“Who Am I?” - an exploration of self. The exhibit is anchored by the group of nine – a series of mandalas executed by the artist in the 1990’s as an exercise in discovery. Carl Gustav Jung purported the mandala or circle to be a symbol representing the total personality or Self. The artist has built on this idea by using the circle as a means of pushing the expression and exploration of Self; inner conflicts and questions; to solidify a hypothesis of Self and the sum of who she felt to be at the time. This group of nine has not previously been displayed as a unit to the public.
Who I Am is a theme frequently revisited by the artist. As a means of exploring struggles with identity, self-worth and sense of relevance in the world. Is Anyone Listening? Am I Heard?
